Microsoft has just released a new education and certification path to become a Microsoft Certified Master in MOSS 2007. BUT you can't just know MOSS inside and out AND be a certified developer. Nope! Step aside peasants! You must also know either the Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003 or the Content Management Server 2002.
Hmm... Well, I applaud their efforts at separating the newbie test junkies from the rest of us but I truly believe being a professional and effective information architect with these new tools does not depend on your knowledge of either of those products. But, hey - I don't work for their education department now do I!
For those of you with the skill, time & money to pursue this you can read their article here. Meanwhile I do think it is worthwhile to pass 70-630 and 70-631 if your an administrator / architect type and 70-542 if you are a developer. My friends in the field tell me there are very few developers who have passed that test so being able to put it on your resume will be a plus.
I'll post my experiences of passing the first two as I do it. With any luck time will permit me to pass at least one of those before the end of the year. More on that front later!
